1. Brinda Karat –

Brinda Karat (born 19 October 1947), is a very famous politician who passed out from the same college, Mirinda House. After his studies, he went to London and did a job in Air India for 4 years. In 1971, she left London and came to India. She also became the first woman member of the CPI(M) Politburo and served as the general secretary of the All India Democratic Women’s Association. 

He obtained a bachelor’s degree in arts and then did his post-graduation in history at the University of Calcutta. She has been a talker for gender issues in the country since the beginning of her political journey, and in 1980 she worked in a campaign to reform rape laws.

2. Mallika Sherawat –

Mallika Sherawat has worked not only in Bollywood but also on Hollywood screens. Mallika Sherawat is famous for her strong image of sexuality. He also tried to work in Hollywood and was successful. Her real name is Reema Lamba. Mallika obtained a degree in Philosophy from Miranda House. He is best known for Murder, Pyaar Ke Side Effects, and International films.

3. Anita Mazumdar Desai –

Anita Mazumdar Desai was nominated for the Booker Prize thrice. He was also awarded the Sahitya Akademi Award for his 1978 novel ‘Fire on the Mountain’. 

Due to these achievements, she is considered one of the most influential women writers of India. He is a graduate of English Literature from Miranda House and has won many awards for his good work. Due to his novels, he got many awards in foreign countries also.


4. Sheila Dixit –

Now we will talk about another influential female politician from Miranda House – Sheila Dikshit. She is known for being the Chief Minister of Delhi for about 15 years. She did her Masters in History at Miranda House, Delhi, and is today one of the most celebrated faces of the Indian National Congress. He led the Congress from 1998 to 2013 for three consecutive victories in Delhi. 

He has also represented India in the United Nations. She worked on the status of women for five years from 1984 to 1989. However, corruption controversies and some insensitive remarks about the Nirbhaya rape case have tarnished his image in later years.

5. Nandita Das –

If we talk about the most influential Indian women, the work of Nandita Das comes first. She is a successful actress and has carved a niche for herself as a director as well. He has been hailed as a champion of alternative cinema about important humanitarian issues. She is known for her much talked about film Fire. 

The rest of his films, such as Before the Rains, are based on true stories from the aftermath of the 2002 Gujarat riots. His directorial debut film is Firaq, which did well. She also holds a master’s in Social Work and advocates on social justice issues. He has also won several awards, including the Filmfare Awards, and won several awards at international film festivals. 

He was also honored with the award of ‘Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters, a very prestigious civilian award by the French government. And in 2011 she became the first Indian woman to be inducted into the Hall of Fame of the International Women’s Forum, Washington DC. She has also studied at the same college, Mirinda House.

6. Meira Kumar –

Meira Kumar is known as the first woman Speaker of the Lok Sabha and has been a 5-time MP. He started his career as a lawyer and diplomat. He served as the Speaker of the Lok Sabha from 2009 to 2014. He has also served as a Cabinet Minister in the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. She is known to actively participate in movements related to human rights, social reforms, and democracy.

7. Anjolie Ela Menon –

She is one of the foremost female artists of today’s Indian era. His work has been displayed in solo exhibitions around the world. He studied English Literature, at Miranda House, and spoke fondly of his time in college. She used to take pictures of her teachers into painting. 

He has represented India in various shows and was awarded the Padma Shri in 2000, which is a big deal in itself. Due to these works, she is counted among the strong women.
